Heron Tower from Houndsditch

The new Heron Tower building on Bishopsgate in London is now approaching its full 43 storey height.

August 18 2009   :   Thames Tideway Tunnels Project

We have recently been appointed by BMT Isis to assist with their navigational and logistics support role for Thames Water on the Tideway Tunnels Project.

To minimise road traffic associated with the project the riverside shaft head sites will be supplied by river as much as possible. We are preparing outline designs for supply jetties, over-water working platforms, and a floating batching plant. We are also advising on construction methods and temporary works requirements for the shaft head works, culverts and valve chambers located within the river.

We have recently completed an on site assignment for Taylor Woodrow Construction at Blackwall in East London.

The project involved the construction of a new light rail flyover forming part of a grade separated junction. We assisted with design and checking of falsework, formwork, and excavation support helping to ensure that the critical rail possession dates were met.

May 6 2009   :   Free Standing Hoist Tower & Access Bridge

Kettering Hospital Hoist Tower

We have recently designed this free standing hoist tower and the associated access bridge for UBS at Kettering General Hospital.

The hoist tower resists overturning by means of holding down bolts and a concrete base slab. The bridge gives access to a third floor ward during refurbishment without obstructing corridors and stairways within the building.

February 20 2009   :   Further Work at Felixstowe South Regeneration

We have recently completed an independent design check of the main wall piling gates at Felixstowe for Costain.

The gate structures support the permanent piles during driving. They are founded on temporary piles driven into the seabed in 15m deep water and are serviced entirely be floating plant. Due to their exposed location they were checked against stringent wind and wave loading criteria.

January 12 2009   :   Ellis Design launch their new website

Ellis Design Associates New Web Site

Ellis Design launch their new website today. The new site has details of many of the projects we have worked on, with detailed photographs of many of them. Further photographs can be found in the Gallery section.

The site was created for us by Webcraft UK Ltd. Managing Director Nick Bowles commented:

“Ellis Design already had a lot of content on their website but it was difficult to navigate and not very search engine friendly. We are confident that having a new modern looking online portfolio showing their wide range of expertise and experience will pay dividends for the company in the coming months and years.”
